Taking no flights

Six months ago I never knew the true power of solo travelling. Not only am I a female millennial discovering life, I am discovering culture through different walks of life worldwide. My goal for travelling in 2022 is to go to 10 new countries which will be hard for me as I love to take my time discovering each country for at least a month. Knowing that travelling will be my new life, I thought now in 2022, I will begin my blog to look back on my experiences and I hope my readers will relieve any expectations that travelling is unsafe. Here are my unbias opinions of the world in hope of inspiring more likeminded travellers!

Right now I am on a journey from Mexico, where I was almost 6 months ago, all the way down into Columbia. My plan is to catch no flights and travel only by land or boat to the next 7 out of 9 countries. Of course in Mexico I had to take flights, one to get there from the UK and another from Monterrey in the North to Cancun in the South. After this I crossed the boarder into Belize where I spent a month learning about boats and chilling on yachts in the Caribbean Sea. All through just talking to people. So ask me anything and I’ll post about it… almost anything.

  1. YEAH!!! Sounds like a great (and challenging) adventure. I traveled from Colombia to Patagonia and back up again several years ago – solo and via bus. Got to Patagonia too late in the year to do much hiking, so it’s definitely on my “return list”. There are many interesting off-the-beaten track stops! Guess you could say I totally “get” where you’re coming from :o) and agree solo is THE only way to travel. I’m a baby boomer, and that’s only good because I’m retired now and now have the free time to roam. Covid more or less directed me to the Balkans and nearby countries this year, as soon as I was vaccinated. Have really enjoyed Serbia, Turkey, Greece, Czech Republic, and Romania, but am going home next week ater 9 months on the road. Elqui Valley Chile, San Agustín Colombia, and Cuenca Ecuador are gems I recommend! People in Romania are visiting Egypt and Zanzibar – both unscathed by covid. Good luck to you and enjoy your adventure!
